Service-Based Business
Alala Home is primarily a service-based interior design business. We do not maintain inventory or ship physical products directly to clients. Our services include interior design consultations, space planning, design concept development, material and furniture selection, and project management.
Furniture & Materials Delivery
When Mackenzie specifies furniture, fixtures, materials, or decor items for your project, these products are ordered from third-party vendors, manufacturers, and retailers. Each vendor has its own shipping and delivery policies, timelines, and procedures.
Mackenzie coordinates all ordering and tracks deliveries on your behalf as part of our project management services. We communicate expected delivery timelines, coordinate installation schedules, and address any shipping issues that arise with vendors.
Delivery Timelines
Delivery timelines vary significantly based on the type of product, manufacturer, and current availability:
These are general estimates. Mackenzie provides specific timeline information for each item selected for your project and updates you on any delays or changes to expected delivery dates.
Delivery Coordination
Mackenzie coordinates delivery scheduling to ensure items arrive when needed for installation. For renovation projects, this means timing deliveries to align with contractor schedules. For furnishing projects, we schedule deliveries to minimize disruption to your home and ensure proper installation sequencing.
Receiving Deliveries
Most furniture and materials are delivered to your home or project site. You or a designated representative must be present to receive deliveries, inspect items for damage, and sign delivery receipts. Mackenzie provides guidance on what to check during delivery and how to document any issues.
For large or complex deliveries, Mackenzie or a member of our team may be present to oversee the delivery, ensure proper handling, and address any immediate concerns.
Damage & Defects
If items arrive damaged or defective, it is critical to note this on the delivery receipt and photograph the damage immediately. Mackenzie works with vendors to arrange replacements, repairs, or refunds according to each vendor's policies.
Most reputable furniture vendors will replace damaged items at no additional cost, though processing replacements can take several weeks depending on product availability.
Installation Services
Many furniture items require professional installation or assembly. Mackenzie coordinates with qualified installers for items such as lighting fixtures, window treatments, wall-mounted furniture, and complex assemblies. Installation scheduling is coordinated as part of our project management services.
Shipping Costs
Shipping costs are determined by individual vendors and vary based on item size, weight, destination, and delivery method. Mackenzie provides detailed cost breakdowns including shipping fees for all specified items before ordering. Shipping costs are included in the overall project budget and paid directly to vendors.
Charleston Area Delivery
For clients in the Charleston area and surrounding communities (Mount Pleasant, Sullivan's Island, Isle of Palms, James Island, Daniel Island, and beyond), most vendors provide standard ground shipping or freight delivery. Some local vendors and showrooms offer white-glove delivery services that include unpacking, assembly, and debris removal.
Questions About Shipping
If you have questions about shipping timelines, delivery procedures, or specific vendor policies for items in your project, please contact Mackenzie directly. We are here to ensure your project deliveries proceed smoothly and address any concerns that arise.
